History of Digital Durham
Digital Durham was founded in the spring of 2016 by two librarians and a public school teacher who wanted to bring attention to the digital divide in our community. We hosted our first public event at the Hayti Center in December of 2016 in partnership with Durham County Library. We are one of the original members of the North Carolina Digital Equity and Inclusion Collaborative, established in 2017. In 2019 we became an affiliate of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance.
Digital Durham serves the Durham community through:
- Creation of program alignments within the community
- Curation of data regarding the digital divide in Durham
- Education and advocacy regarding digital inclusion in Durham and North Carolina
- Professional development for our member organizations
